Merv Tweed's Private Members Bill C-322 - An act to amend the Canada Post Corporation Act (library materials)

Introduction of Bill C-322- An Act to amend the Canada Post Corporation Act (Library Materials) - Mr. Merv Tweed (Brandon—Souris, CPC) - Mr. Speaker, this amendment would do two things. It would preserve a reduced rate for postage on books between libraries, and would expand the library book rate program to include magazines, records, CDs, CD-ROMs, audio cassettes, video cassettes, DVDs, and other audio-visual materials. This is something that Canadian libraries and Canadians have been asking for since 1967.

I would like to thank Rhea Laube for her tremendous work on the bill on my behalf and on behalf of all Canadians. I look forward to the support of all members of Parliament on this very important amendment.
