Tweed Welcomes Perrin Beatty
BRANDON – February 11, 2010
- Merv Tweed, MP for Brandon-Souris, was pleased to welcome Perrin Beatty,
President & CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to Brandon today.
Prior to today’s Brandon Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, Tweed met with the
Canadian, Manitoba and Brandon Chamber Presidents. “It was a positive
discussion and many ideas were shared regarding the economy going forward,
following the recession,” said Tweed.
During his address to the Brandon Chamber, Beatty shared some fond memories of
his time as a Member of Parliament and his thoughts on the importance that the
Government of Canada prevent “structural, long term deficits” and that a return
to a balanced budget will require “difficult decisions” but that these decisions
are imperative to the future prosperity of our country.
“It was encouraging to hear what Perrin Beatty had to say today from a national
perspective, said Tweed. As the representative of 175,000 businesses
across Canada, Mr. Beatty provided a feel for what business owners and Canadians
expect of our next Federal budget and how Parliament should work for Canadians.”
