CELEBRATE CANADA GRANTS TOTAL MORE THAN $45,000 FOR
BRANDON-SOURIS COMMUNITIES
BRANDON - June 17, 2009 - Merv Tweed, MP for Brandon-Souris,
was pleased to announce that numerous communities in the riding will be
receiving Celebrate Canada grants totaling more than $45,000 from
Heritage Canada
to assist in hosting Canada Day, Aboriginal Day, and Multicultural Day
Celebrations.
“The communities in Brandon-Souris host great festivities to commemorate
Canada
and Aboriginal Day that are filled with children’s events, arts and
entertainment,” said Tweed. “I’m
pleased the Government of Canada can assist.”
Celebrate Canada
is an eleven-day celebration which takes place from June 21 to July 1.
National Aboriginal Day on June 21 kicks off the celebrations and
concludes with Canada Day on July 1.
The celebrations on the Celebrate Canada calendar have become a
tradition, providing Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in
their country. The success of these celebrations is due, in great part,
to the efforts of the volunteer members of the Celebrate Canada
committees.
“Celebrate Canada is a tremendous opportunity for Canadians to gather
with their friends, neighbours, and family to share the festivities and
reflect in what makes our country the best place in the world to live,”
said Tweed.
