Tweed announces support for Folk Festival
BRANDON – March 10, 2010
- Merv Tweed, MP for Brandon-Souris, on behalf of the Honourable James
Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage, is pleased to announce funding
support for this summer’s Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival.
The Festival, celebrating its 26th Anniversary from July 22nd
to 25th, has been awarded $8,000 under the Federal Government’s Arts
Presentation Canada Program.
“Our Government is proud to partner with community groups that celebrate
Canada’s rich and diverse arts and culture,” said Tweed. “The
local Folk Festival has become an event that the community has embraced
and looks forward to.”
The Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival will feature outdoor
performances and artist-led workshops conducted by talented artisans
from across Canada and the United States. The organization will
also present a concert series throughout the year.
“I congratulate The Brandon Folk, Music and Art Society on their 26th
Festival and wish them future success,” said Tweed.
Arts Presentation Canada Program gives Canadians direct access to a
variety of quality artistic experiences through financial assistance to
arts presenters or the organizations that support them. The Program
allows Canadian communities of all backgrounds the opportunity to
participate in and benefit from the broadest possible range of artistic
experiences.
