Jazz Festival receives federal funding

BRANDON – May 16, 2008 - Merv Tweed, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris, is pleased to announce that the Brandon Jazz Festival has been granted $7,300 in funding for their event next spring.

 “Arts are an important part of our community,” said Tweed.  “The Jazz festival provides a great learning experience and wonderful entertainment for the people of Brandon.”

 Festival Executive Director, Brent Campbell, commented, “The Federal support is important for us to keep the Festival going.  It is a crucial part of our funding to host the event,” he said.

 The three day Jazz Festival brings together concerts, workshops, clinics, lectures and seminars targeting youth, the general public and immigrants.  A total of four concerts are also proposed as part of an additional series held throughout the year.

 “The Federal Government supports the arts through our Arts Presentation Canada Program and I’m pleased to see the Brandon Jazz Festival a beneficiary of this funding,” said Tweed.
