Tweed highlights federal support for
Emergency Preparedness Projects

2010 –
Merv Tweed, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris announced that the
Government of Canada will provide $20,379.00 to the Rural Municipality
of Killarney/Turtle Mountain for a generator and wiring for their
Emergency Operations Centre project.
“The federal
government plays an important role in helping communities respond when
emergencies strike,” said Tweed. “During Emergency Preparedness
Week, our government is highlighting our commitment; supporting
emergency management organizations in Killarney/Turtle Mountain by
ensuring they have the tools and training they need to ensure people are
safe and prepared for emergencies.”
Funding is also
being dedicated to emergency training and planning exercises and Urban
Search and Rescue. Over 400 projects across the country will
benefit from this federal funding for the fiscal year 2010-2011.
