Dear Constituent, As everyone gets ready for Christmas, I know many 'to do lists' will include buying food and gifts. So I thought you might be interested to know what your government is doing for you as a consumer. Every shopper needs to feel confident in the safety of what they're buying, whether it's kids' toys, medicine, or food. That's why our government renovated the Food & Children's Product Safety website. We've made it easier to use, fully searchable, and include a wider range of products. Over a year ago, our government strengthened your buying power by reducing the GST by 1% - and we're doing it again. Starting January 2008, the GST will be lowered to 5%. Meaning you'll pay less in taxes virtually every time you go to the store. Lastly, I'd just like to wish you, your friends and your family a relaxing and Merry Christmas. Warmest regards, - Merv |
