A Stronger Canada. A Stronger Economy.

Dear Constituent,
This week our Conservative government announced our new plan for
this session of Parliament. We've embarked on an ambitious plan
to Restore Canada's Prosperity, to Support Families,
and Tackle Crime.
Our top priority is to complete the second phase of our
Economic Action Plan and keep creating jobs and growth. At the
same time, we're charting the course for a return to balanced
budgets as we wind down stimulus spending as the economy
improves.
We're also standing up for Canadian families. Countless
parents, the whole nation over, currently benefit from the
Universal Child Care Benefit. We're taking steps to improve
those benefits for single parents who could use some extra help
to support their families.
The goal is to make Canada the best country in the world
to raise a family. And to that end, we're also tackling
criminals who target women and children with tougher new laws
against sex offenders.
I hope you'll never hesitate to get in touch with me at any time
to share your thoughts.
Best regards,
- Merv

Getting the Job Done

The Economic Action Plan:
From the forest floor to the factory floor, Canadians have
persevered in the face of the recession. And Canada's Economic
Action Plan is working. Tax cuts and enhanced Employment
Insurance benefits are directly helping Canadians who needed
help.
Businesses have begun hiring again. Our economy is growing. Now
more than ever, it's important that we stay the course and
finish the job to set our economy on a sure footing for the
future.

Some of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's recent Throne Speech:
We are a country whose citizens do not turn back when confronted
by obstacles, whatever they are, and never shrink from lending a
helping hand to the most disadvantaged, wherever they may be.
As the Vancouver Winter Olympics and upcoming Paralympics remind
us, there are also circumstances when festive hearts and the
sharing of a common humanity are our greatest hope.
I know Canadians will continue to care, and that spirit of
solidarity will redefine their sense of sharing as efforts are
made to support the economic recovery...
